FAQs

Coast Dental aims to provide patients with all the information they need to make an informed decision

What braces treatment do you offer?

Coast Dental offers Fastbraces: this treatment lives up to its name and can straighten your teeth in just 3 months. We also offer Invisalign which is a braces-free solution to straighter teeth.

Why should I visit the dentist for teeth whitening?

When dentists use a teeth whitening product you can rest assured it won’t adversely affect your oral health. That is why Coast Dental uses Zoom! whitening products. This brand has been clinically proven to effectively and safely whiten your teeth.

When it comes to over-the-counter whitening products there’s no guarantee they’ll give your teeth the results you’re looking for.

Should I get dental bridges or dental implants?

At Coast Dental in south Adelaide we offer both dental bridges and dental implants. Dental bridges and dental implants both have their pros and cons. While dental implants are the best option for replacing a missing tooth, if you do not have adequate jawbone density for the placement of the implant, a dental bridge may be the best form of treatment for you.

What is a dental emergency?

A dental emergency is when you’ve chipped or cracked a tooth and it’s painful; or a tooth has been knocked out. If this is the case you should call Coast Dental straight away for an appointment.

What is same-day porcelain dentistry?

Coast Dental in Christies Beach uses the CEREC machine to give you porcelain restorations in one visit. Traditionally, a dental crown would take two appointments spread over a week to a week and a half.

What is root canal therapy?

Root canal therapy can help to save a tooth from extraction. This is procedure that cleans infected pulp out of a tooth and fills the tooth with a special material. A dental crown is then placed over the tooth to strengthen and protect it.

Why would I buy a sports mouthguard from a dentist?

Custom-made mouthguards from Coast Dental are better for your oral health than over-the-counter mouthguards. Mouthguards made by a dentist are designed to fit snugly in the mouth providing better protection. Additionally, when you visit us for your regular check-ups we can ensure the mouthguard is still in good condition.

When should I bring my child to the dentist?

At Coast Dental in Christies Beach we recommend bringing your child in 6 months after their first tooth has erupted. This allows us to ensure their oral health is developing accurately.
