The Coast Dental team help patients suffering from a dental emergency

Accidents and injuries happen. At Coast Dental we set aside time each day to look after dental emergencies and give patients the dental care they need.

What is the difference between a dental emergency and a dental concern?

A dental concern is aesthetic or functional: usually this means chipped, cracked or crooked teeth. And there’s no pain. If, however, you experience crack or chipped teeth with any amount of pain this is a dental emergency and you should seek help from a dentist as soon as possible. Essentially, if it hurts call Coast Dental.

Too often patients who suffer a dull toothache shrug it off and wait for it to go away. While this may be the case some of the time, you should still visit the dentist to ensure the problem isn’t more severe.

What do I do if my tooth’s been knocked out?

If one of your teeth has been knocked out pick it up by the crown and place it in a glass of milk. For the best chance of reattaching the tooth you will need to visit a dentist within 45 minutes of losing the tooth. After that there’s less chance of being able to reattach the tooth successfully.
