Coast Dental offers a range of orthodontic treatments to help give you a straighter smile

At our south Adelaide dental practice we offer Fastbraces and Invisalign. Fastbraces live up to their name and treatment time can take anywhere from 3 months to a year —  that’s less than half the time traditional braces take. Invisalign is a popular orthodontic treatment because it is discreet and removable meaning you do not need to change your diet or lifestyle to suit your treatment.

Fastbraces and how they are different from traditional braces

It is in the name. They are faster than traditional braces because they work differently to provide you with the best results in a shorter space of time. What’s more is many patients who have been treated with Fastbraces have reported minimal discomfort and love the shortened treatment time. Fastbraces are able to be so quick because of patented bracket technology specifically designed to provide faster results. This is achieved because of the triangular design of the braces, cutting edge techniques and a special heat-activated wire.

Traditional braces would move your teeth in two stages—which is why it can take two years. The first stage is when the crown of your teeth are moved back into alignment and then the second stage is when the alignment of the root of your teeth is addressed.

This is a huge point of difference for Fastbraces: the patented technology uses a bracket and specially shaped wire to correct the position of the tooth root from the beginning of treatment. The patented bracket and wire system is key to aligning the crown and root at the same time.

Why you want Fastbraces

Unlike traditional braces that can take up to two years to complete; Fastbraces treatment can be completed in just 3 months! More complex cases may require 12 months, however this is still only half the amount of time of traditional braces. Another advantage of Fastbraces is there is less discomfort than traditional braces.

General orthodontic information

After braces treatment you will need to wear a retainer in order for the results to last. Failure to wear a retainer can—and generally will—result in relapse. By wearing your retainer at night every night you will maintain your straight teeth.

How much do Fastbraces® cost?

Fastbraces® is approximately half the cost of traditional orthodontics, depending on the condition of your teeth. Meaning you could save thousands of dollars on orthodontic treatment. In most cases we can process your health fund claim electronically in our office through HICAPS, so you know the exact rebate and the balance you owe. Please bring your health fund card with you when you visit. For larger cases, credit can be organised through a third party. We are also preferred providers for Mutual Community, MBF, SGIC (BUPA) and Medibank Pvt Ltd.

Payment plans are also available. To discuss this more with our Practice Manager or to book in an appointment please contact us today on (08) 8384 7322.

Is Fastbraces® right for me?

Fastbraces® is a suitable option for around 80% of orthodontic cases and are safe and effective for patients of all ages. Treatment with Fastbraces® is usually best considered when all the baby teeth are gone, from about the age of 10 years old. There is no upper age limit to having treatment even if you’re in your sixties or above.

Fastbraces® come in three different options: Clear ceramic brackets, metal brackets and combo (ceramic brackets for upper teeth and metal brackets for lower teeth). The ceramic brackets are even more discreet and an ideal solution for patients who want their orthodontic treatment to remain as inconspicuous as possible.

During your consultation at Coast Dental, your dentist will discuss your options with you and determine if you are a good candidate for Fastbraces®.

Can anybody get invisalign?

When you visit Coast Dental for your initial consultation one of our dentists will assess your oral health and determine what the best orthodontic option for your teeth is and whether Invisalign would be a suitable option for you. The virtually invisible, clear aligners are popular amongst professionals, adults and teenagers who wish to discreetly straighten their smile.

Why should I straighten my teeth?

Improperly erupted teeth can contribute to poor oral health as they can create an environment in which bacteria thrive. As crooked teeth typically have uneven surfaces, crooked angles and hard-to-reach crannies, they are harder to keep clean and maintain.

Also, your teeth and their roots have an impact on the function of the musculature of the face and the physiological function of the jaws and the processes of eating and breathing. This, in combination with an oral health which may be hard to maintain, leads many patients to straighten their teeth even as adults.

Some adults may not have had access to orthodontic treatment when they were younger and we are proud to be able to offer them the option of this revolutionary method to straighter teeth.
