Porcelain Veneers Morphett Vale SA
For a strong restoration that blends seamlessly with your natural smile
At Coast Dental in south Adelaide we offer our patients porcelain veneers. These are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the front of your teeth. Porcelain veneers are similar to dental bonding in that they are an effective cosmetic treatment for concealing minor chips, cracks, stains and gaps.
Why porcelain veneers are better than dental bonding
Dental bonding is neither as strong nor as stain resistant as porcelain veneers. While both treatments can be colour matched to your natural teeth, porcelain veneers will last longer. There are some cases of teeth with cosmetic stains that cannot be treated with teeth whitening. This is one instance when porcelain veneers are a great option.
During your initial consultation one of our friendly dentists will assess your oral health and determine if porcelain veneers are right for you. This will be determined not just by your oral health but also by your desired outcome.
Porcelain veneers with CEREC technology:
Traditionally, porcelain veneers would take two appointments to place. The first appointment would involve taking moulds with unpleasant putty material and then having temporary veneers placed while you wait for the porcelain veneers to be fabricated in a lab. The second appointment would involve the removal of temporary veneers and the placement of the porcelain veneers.
But that’s not how we do it at Coast Dental in Christies Beach. We use the CEREC technology which allows us to take digital impressions of your teeth. The advantage of digital impressions over traditional dental putty is digital impressions are much more accurate. With the digital impressions a block of ceramic is placed in the CEREC milling machine and your restorations are created in an hour.
No second appointment, no irritating temporaries. The CEREC machine saves you time and provides amazing porcelain restorations.
This cosmetic treatment is used for the teeth in your smile zone. The smile zone is the twelve teeth (six on the upper jaw and six on the lower jaw) that are visible when you smile. It is important to keep in mind that while porcelain veneers are stain resistant they are not stain proof; so you will need to continue to brush and floss as you would normally. It is also important to know that teeth whitening treatments do not, generally speaking, work on restorations like porcelain veneers.
